Fort Hays hosts annual rodeo
In 46 years, the Fort Hays State University rodeo team has never seen three days of such pleasant weather. The precipitation and chilly temperatures that typically accompany the annual rodeo were absent this year for all three days as hundreds of cowboys, cowgirls and fans flooded the grounds last weekend to enjoy good competition and quality entertainment.

EOF sent back to committee
Last week’s Student Government Association meeting ended in a stalemate when the Educational Opportunity Fund bill was voted down and sent back to the committee to be reviewed. The EOF gives student groups and different departments on campus the chance to receive funding for positions that are not able to be funded through allocations. The funding is supposed to give way to innovative educational opportunities that can help further students’ experience and education during their years at Fort Hays State University.

Dedicated music fans endangered
Whatever happened to having a favorite band? It seems like, these days, nobody even cares about music. I seem to remember a day, long ago, when people would travel for hours just to see their preferred band in concert. There are still a few fans of old-school bands who will travel across the country to see legends like Tom Petty or Stevie Nicks. For the most part, though, people just listen to whatever trash comes on the radio, and when it’s off the radio, it’s gone for good.

Tiger’s season ends in MIAA Tournament
Going into the MIAA Centennial Softball Tournament in Overland Park, the Fort Hays State University softball team took the No. 3 seed. The Tigers opened the tournament with a 7-2 win on Thursday in a rematch against Pittsburg State University, the sixth seed.
