The Fort Hays State University football team has filled the void left when former defensive coordinator Kyle Nystrom departed for NCAA Division I Central Michigan University.
Greg Bryant was promoted to the position after serving as the defensive line coach. He is the team’s third defensive coordinator in three seasons.
Bryant has coached at FHSU for the past four seasons. Along with coaching the defensive line, Bryant was also the team’s strength and conditioning coordinator.
Nystrom left FHSU to become CMU’s assistant head coach, special teams coordinator and linebackers coach for 2010.
While headed under Nystrom, the defense allowed a school record 402 points, averaging 36.5 points per game and 458.5 yards per game.
