Fort Hays State University vs Western...
6:31 – Less than 30 minutes until kickoff. My adrenaline is pumping. I am ready for this game to start. The Tigers are looking primed and ready to go.
6:36 – I wasn’t impressed with Mike Garrison’s practice reps with the starting offense. It might have been the high winds he was facing, but a bunch of his passes were l [...]

Storm damages campus
Trees in front of McMartney Hall were damanged as a result of the storm Monday.
Senior Jacob Kessler, student director of the American Democracy Project, was about to leave his office in Wiest Hall when a small problem arose. Huge pieces of the roof of the building came off in the middle of a severe thunderstorm.
Instead of leaving for the e [...]

A new year means new challenges, and for the residential assistants of McMindes, Wiest and Custer it means a brand new batch of students to lead.
Residential Life has several new employees, including new hall directors and RAs.

‘Dinner’ disappoints
Jay Roach, known for producing in “Bruno,” “Borat” and “Meet the Fockers,” directs yet another mediocre comedy this year entitled “Dinner for Schmucks.”
Apparently, all it takes to create a comedic film is an awkward Steve Carell as the main character, Hollywood’s hottest funny man, Zach Galifianakis to play the same role he has for the past [...]
‘Expendables’ an explosive hit
The days of sitting around with your friends and accidentally catching “Rambo III,” “True Lies” or perhaps “Time Cop” on TBS – laughing at the absurdity while gluing your eyes to the screen, entranced by the explosions and body count – may be over.
But then, “The Expendables” grabs you from the back of the head and slams your face into the sc [...]
‘Dragon Quest’ solid, but less than p...
Any game with nine installments has to be good, right? Well, that may be debatable – as some of the unfortunate Mega Man titles over recent years indicate – but the “Dragon Quest” franchise returns to the Nintendo DS in its ninth title, subtitled “Sentinels of the Starry Skies.”
Fortunately, the worst part of this game is its overly wordy, va [...]
Newsboys take new direction
With their new album, “Born Again,” the Newsboys have truly been born again.
Since their last CD in May 2009, they replaced lead singer Peter Furler with dc Talk’s Michael Tait. Furler continues to work with the Newsboys writing songs, but Tait now takes care of the lead vocals.
The Newsboys still have their signature Newsboys sound, but that [...]
Q and A With Rachel Rayner
Q: What do you do in the Music Department?
A: I’m primarily a vocalist, but I also play violin, and I’m just now picking up the cello.
Q: What got you interested in music?
A: I’ve always been interested in music. When I was little, when my mom would drop me off at my grandma and grandpa’s house, I would sit on their doghouse and sing songs ab [...]
