EOF sent back to committee
Last week’s Student Government Association meeting ended in a stalemate when the Educational Opportunity Fund bill was voted down and sent back to the committee to be reviewed.
The EOF gives student groups and different departments on campus the chance to receive funding for positions that are not able to be funded through allocations. The fu [...]

The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity on campus hosted its annual charity relay race Saturday to benefit the Ronald and Nancy Reagan Research Institute.
“TKE nationally has taken on Alzheimer’s as a philanthropic cause; all across different campuses TKE chapters do similar runs for Reagan,” said TKE president junior Sam Cooper.
Former president Ro [...]
Intramurals end semester with success
This semester, the Department of Intramurals has two achievements to smile about with the addition of a new diving board and the completion of a second year for its “Take-a-Bike, Leave-a-Bike” program.
The bike program gives students the chance to take a break from walking across the campus and borrow a bike to ride to their destination.
The [...]

Dedicated music fans endangered
Whatever happened to having a favorite band?
It seems like, these days, nobody even cares about music. I seem to remember a day, long ago, when people would travel for hours just to see their preferred band in concert.
There are still a few fans of old-school bands who will travel across the country to see legends like Tom Petty or Stevie Nic [...]
Parting words from retiring News Edit...
Writing this is almost like writing a breakup letter. The same old, “It’s not you; it’s me,” can be applied in the situation. I’m almost certain I was the one who initiated this breakup, and for that, I’d like to apologize.
It’s been two long and interesting years since I began my job as the news editor. I’ve had so many experiences that I wa [...]
Anonymous surveys annoying spam
Last night, I slouched in a disheveled heap upon my bed, disgruntled and dismayed by the paper I needed to conclude regarding King Alfred’s influence on the preservation of the Old English language. Yes – it was every bit as painful as it sounds.
Sure, the material was interesting, in a historical way, but ten pages seemed like an unreachable [...]
Miller moths attack Kansas, no fatali...
Moths. Everywhere. Moths in your room. Moths in your car. Moths in your wallet. Moths in your food. Moths in your pants.
If you haven’t said it yet, you’ve certainly thought it – where the heck did all these moths come from? One day there weren’t any moths, and then all of a sudden – bam. Moths everywhere.
These little nuisances migrate over [...]

The Neon Trees combines sound from The Killers and The Strokes while adding its own personal touch to create a unique sound. After the debut album, “Habits,” Provo, Utah-based synth rockers Neon Trees, spent a couple years touring the country with various bands, among them Panic! at the Disco and The Strokes.
Singer and keyboardist Tyler Glen [...]
Seasonal art walk graces Hays again
Normal Hays gallery walks are filled with the typically drab art that’s displayed in every season, but the Spring Art Walk was taken back by the youth of the city.
I’ve always used the art walk as an excuse to get my culture on and experience something in Hays you don’t often see – people and their art – but most of the time, I leave bored an [...]
‘Five-Year Engagement’ offers new tak...
For the most part, romantic comedies are all the same. They have the same plot, the same characters and the same rotation of 10 terrible actors and actresses; however, every now and then, a decent comedian will take a chance on a romantic comedy and give us a film that is refreshing and innovating. Jason Segel has been on a roll in recent yea [...]
