The Fort Hays State University wrestling team hosted the NCAA Division II Super Regional 4/RMAC Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
The championships were a prelude to the NCAA Division II National Championships, where six of the Tigers wrestlers were sent.
The Tigers were led by senior Justin Glenn, who lost in the championship bout of the 285-pound class. Junior Walter Clarke also lost in the championship bout, in the 184-pound class championship. Sophomore C.J. Napier lost in the finals of the 141-pound class. Sophomore Tanner Kriss placed third in the 197-pound class, while junior Collin Hase placed fourth in the 125-pound class. The last qualifier for the Tigers was sophomore Derek Koehn.
The Tigers jumped from 17th to 13th in the Division II polls. The jump for the Tigers was in part because of their fourth place finished in the Super Regional.
Napier finished the season ranked 6th in the 141-pound class individual rankings. Clarke fell from third in the polls to fifth following his second place finish. Glenn fell out of the rankings after his second place finish.
The six Tiger wrestlers will travel to the NCAA Division II National Championships on March 9-10, hosted by CSU-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo.
